Sometimes you script and schedule...

So I don't feel like my job is that "technical"...but sometimes I have to write some scripts for specific tasks, and then I realize it kinda is. I guess to me, technical means "difficult", which is subjective. And writing code, is something that doesn't come very naturally to me. So today I had to create a script to clear files in an archive folder once a week, along with the reboot schedule. I had to create local service accounts for this on each server that needed this, and use them to run the scheduled task I created. I had to do some research for this to figure out exactly what I could use and how to call it and what not. But it kinda reminded me of school a little bit, not sure why. Here's the email I sent to the requester once it was done:

A little trial and error, a little testing, a little research, and I automated this simple task. I know it's not a big deal at all :) But I like solving these little puzzles, which I don't get to do every day.

Sometimes you walk a looooot...

We are in San Francisco today, and will be for another 4 days. And since there is no substitute for walking when it comes to getting to know a new city, we did a lot of it. And we will do plenty more of it :)

Sometimes things die...

So FB decided to remind me of this long dead page we worked on long ago:

It was a project we were working on like 4 years ago? I think it was Geli, Diego, Sergio, Mari, and I. I could be forgetting someone though, been a long time. It was a timeline of ALL video games released, ever, on any platform. Pretty ambitious for people with short attention spans. It's been so long ago, that we didn't even have a category for mobile lol. Here is the link to the graveyard:

On another note, Sophie was off from school today, so I made her a special breakfast:

Kinda like an egg mcmuffin, but vegan + hash browns. Pan fried tofu, cheeze, tofurky "bologna" and "sausage" on an english muffin. And avocado, just cuz we can :)
We've also been getting winter squash like every week in the weekly bin. So we struggle to keep up haha the yellow ones are spaguetti squash, the tan one is a butternut, the rest are sugar pumpkins, of sorts.

Sometimes you post some pics...

Not much going on. Just been busy with the routine. Here are some pics I've taken recently, mostly with the phone, so nothing too good haha:

Their new heat lamp and "tent" lol

Fall :)

I am shy, but I also really want that cilantro...must...reluctantly...go...near...human.

Mine!

Cilantro!

Hiding behind the hay

Got some greens?
So yeah mostly hanging out with the piggies and seeing everything turn to fall colors :) And rain, it's Portland after all haha

Sometimes your camera needs sunglasses...

After a torrential rainstorm no less. I knew there was a partial solar eclipse today, but didn't get my hopes up on seeing it because we have been getting rained on pretty hard the entire week. And it will continue to rain:

So yeah, not eclipse watching weather. But, as if the sun gods were smiling upon me, there was a crack in the clouds and the sun and moon were able to peek through, So naturally, I did this:

You can even see the massive sun spots(AR2192) at the sun's center!
And I am not kidding about the rain...everything was flooded on the way to pick up Sophie:

Sometimes no one blogs...

So  most of us haven't been blogging. So I might just stop too. Here are a few pics from the last time I posted, to now:

The new pathway is awesome :) It's on the way to downtown from where we live and it saves us a few blocks haha

Geli's work building.

Bikes ftw!

Waterfront park :)

This is where we usually eat lunch, across the street from where Geli works.

Italian sub, from DC veg :)

DC Veg! "Chicken" salad sandwich!

Visiting Geli for lunch! :D

Sometimes, I have the whole stadium to myself, and it's great! :D

Sometimes you bike up a volcano...

I like saying that, but it's really not much of a volcano. And it's not much of a mountain either. But it's still not easy to get up there on bike. But it was a beautiful day today, and I enjoyed going up there on bike. We usually walk up there, because obviously it is all uphill. But that's what makes it a challenge on bike. Here are some pics from that:

The view towards downtown form up there.

Part of the path up there. Super awesome, towering trees!

On the other side, there's Mt. Hood, a much larger and actual mountain, about 60 miles away.

Beautiful views up there :)

Here's a screenshot of the app I use to track my rides/runs:

Short, but intense ride.

And since it was such a beautiful, dry, day, we took the piggies out to the yard for a bit.

All in all, awesome day :D

Sometimes you are excited...

We are going to San Francisco Nov 1-5! Just Geli and I :) It's been ages since we traveled on our own. This is possible thanks to Mari and Gabe for babysitting her while we take this trip! Should be awesome!

Sometimes there is too much work...

Not much time to blog. I just got assigned a project for a new print server build for a migration to a new Citrix Desktop so I have tons of printer drivers to test and deploy and queues to create. So here are some pics from today of the piggy bath and play pen cleanup.

Had to take this outside and hose and scrub it down to get it super clean :)

Sometimes eating is a balanced equation...

Here are some random phone pics from the last few days.

Sophie eating a cookie sandwich the size of her face!

Vegan croissant!

wedding cookie!

Muffin!

Red and black cafe! (Vegan anarchist cafe and community space!)

Wiggles and Sophie :)

This is what our porch looks like at the moment...
So about the balanced equation, here is what I mean. I know the picture is horrible, but basically what happens is that these guinea pigs eat, and as they are eating, they are pooping. As if the equation must be balanced. What goes in one side, must come out the other, instantly. No buffer lol

Pooping while eating. The guinea pig way.
